Art Deco 18ct Gold & Platinum, Old Mine Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring

74M
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual gold ring that was made in the 1920s. It has been set with an that is a deep stone weighing one . Popularised in 1750 and developed in the 18th century European old mine cushion cuts were not round but had a slightly curved edge which formed a soft square. They were made with a variety of patterns but always with a small , high crown, and larger culet. The diamond in this ring is a good example of that type of cut and is tinted yellow. It was probably cut in the early 19th century but has been set in to a later mount. It would make a lovely engagement ring.
