Art Deco 14ct Gold & Diamond Ring

801M
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual 14ct gold ring that was made in Austria in the 1920s. It has been set with an oval diamond but the shank is the highlight of this ring. It is like a Wiener Werkstätte design. The Wiener Werkstätte (Vienna Workshop) was established in 1903 by Koloman Moser and Josef Hoffmann. It was a production community of visual artists in Vienna, Austria bringing together architects, artists and designers working in ceramics, jewellery, silver, textiles, furniture and the graphic arts. It is widely regarded as a pioneer of modern design. I can only attribute this ring’s design to the influence of the movement.
