19th Century Bohemian Garnet Bow Brooch

783 X
Written by Olly Gerrish

An unusual brooch that was made circa 1880. It has been set with graded Bohemian garnets which as the title suggests were mined in Bohemia which was part of the Austro Hungarian Empire at that time. They have a wonderful Burgundy red colour and were always rose cut to show this off. This brooch is a lovely design with a sweet bow at the bottom so I am sure that it would have been given to a lady by an admirer
