1970s 18ct Gold & Green Enamel Snake Ring

440S
Written by Olly Gerrish

The snake motif has been used in jewellery for centuries. Snake jewellery was very popular and was traditionally given as a gift of love in the , and periods as it represented “Eternal love and wisdom”, but the motif goes back to the Roman and Greek periods. This sinuous snake ring is a much later version and was made in 1972. It has been beautifully made and has been enamelled in green with shaped eyes. We also have a blue enamelled snake by the same maker.
