18ct White & Yellow Gold, Black Opal & Diamond Cluster Ring

931N
Written by Olly Gerrish

An impressive and large 18ct gold ring that was made in London in 1977. It has been set with a large oval cabochon black opal that displays wonderful flashes of red, blue with some bright green. The colours are like peacock feathers with great depth of colour. The opal originates from Lightning Ridge in Australia. The first recorded black opal was found there in 1873. It is the only place where black opals are sourced. Around the opal are sixteen well matched white diamonds. It is a glorious ring and looks stunning when worn.
